Experience this exciting saga of a real rogue who is an adventurer at heart and an all-around sport with a well-developed sense of fun. With his parents, Les and Muriel, Rex Wotton ran the West Coast Watersports center at Coral Reef hotel, just up the beach from Settlers Beach. They took hotel guest diving and on daytime and sunset cruises along the coast. He was an expert seafarer trained by the Royal Merchant Navy in navigation, sailing, diving, explosives, and marine work. Rex Wotton was just one of the most loveable Rogues of Barbados. His sense of joy and sharp wit enveloped every circumstance. He was independent at an early age and often disappeared for days at a time, camping along the banks of Joes' river . He built campfires from coconut husk and twigs and cooked his catch with breadfruit, wild herbs, plantain, and edible vines. He ate mangoes, and local berries like fat pork, and sea grapes, that grow along the beach.
One time, when someone pitched a cocktail at him, he simply chucked the ice water of a wine bucket over them. When needled by a comedian who made a cheeky comment about him, Rex repaid the snub by walking off with away the comics' famous green top hat. Straight past security and the concierge, he strolled with a sassy air and his seductive beaming giggle.
This was his manner, he would not let much pass him and typically answered the insult with a double measure of the same, but it was cloaked in charisma and style. He seldom displayed annoyance, but it was at hand when needed.
