PTFE (TFE) and PVDF both are in short supply.

Teflon  product PTFE (TFE) and also Kynar-PVDF  manufacturing requires a mineral called Fluorspar that's mined in Mongolia and China. The world interest in this mineral has grown significantly, and the supply has tightened. PTFE materials have high heat resistance, excellent chemical resistance and extremely low co-efficient of friction (slippery) and is used in a good deal of purposes from non-stick fry pans to ptfe tape for use at home. This particular mineral is a important raw materials within the manufacturing of fluoropolymers, fluorolubricants and lots of refrigerants. This surge in demand joined together with shortage of raw materials has caused a dramatic price increase (almost double in the last year), shortages, and we expect both these factors to continue in the near future.
